Although along the "growth boom" I-85 corridor and compelling signs of a bright economic future seem to be everywhere around us, when you look closer, even past our beautiful landscapes and historical charm, of which there is plenty, you will see what we are truly made of. The beauty of Cherokee County, South Carolina is absolutely what's under its surface.
You will see neighbors greeting each other with smiles. We are not in such a rush. We stop to ask, "How you are today?" Here, you and your family will always seem to have an open invitation to attend a picnic, or a social event, or something fun. Here your plants will be watered by your neighbors when you are on vacation, so don't worry that you forgot!
Ask those who have joined us from elsewhere, from our new physicians and employees, retirees, to neighbors relocating here with their companies, what they first noticed, and what has continually stood out about our community. They will tell you it is our "friendliness and caring nature." While the phrase "southern hospitality" is a clich in many places, in Cherokee County we've been blessed to recognize the enriching feeling of taking that extra moment for someone. You will absolutely "sense" it. And you'll know it's genuine.
There is a halo of "community" in Cherokee County. Our children are courteous to adults and to each other - after all, they emulate their parents. We "grow 'em right" here, and they blossom in our schools, leaving prepared to not just contribute, but to be compassionate citizens in the world. Just sit back and watch how they play with each other. Our kids are happy. Contentment at a young age is wonderful to see.
We know "home" means different things to different folks. But if for you it means a place to build special memories of family and friendships, rooted in a tradition of caring for each other, then Cherokee County is the place for you. Look around. In fact, there are no long lines anywhere in Cherokee County. Your drive to and from work will be leisurely and without traffic snarls, noise, and pollution! Charlotte will seem far away, although it isn't.
